Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Be careful to understand what you're looking at!
Some of you may have never heard of the PVT, as it's known. The Pearson Vue Trick is a way to "know" immediately after you finish your NCLEX if you have passed or failed. All you have to do is the following:
1. Log on to the Pearson Vue web site on your phone or computer.
2. Log in to your account, just like when you registered for the NCLEX the first time.
3. Click 'Register' and select your exam type (NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN for most nurses).
4. Select your country and answer the “NCLEX Registration Questions” questions as if you failed your test, by picking 'yes' when it asks if you've taken one before.
5. Do the part where you enter your Program Code.
6. Then select your Board of Nursing.
7. Put in payment info.
8. Click 'Next.'...
If it lets your credit card information process and register... sorry, but you failed. If it tells you, "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled an exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time", you PASSED!
The Infamous Good Pop-Up
Some other tips I have heard:
1. Sometimes, a temporary 'hold' is placed on an NCLEX test result, whether it received a Pass or Fail score. You will be told there is a hold when you go to do the Pearson Vue trick. Don't worry! This is usually due to factors out of your own situation and will be resolved within 48-72 hours. After that, you will either get the good pop-up or the bad pop-up.
2. Wait a few hours after you test to do the PVT. It is thought that if you do it immediately after, results may be delayed and the PVT will let you schedule for a test even if you did pass. This may account for the people who cry foul about the PVT. Another reason is that they don't understand the pop-up messages. (See above.)
3. Don't bother asking the NCSBN or Pearson Vue if the trick works. They'll deny it.
4. If you are afraid you failed and you're not flush with $200 to re-register at this time, but you want to do the PVT, go get a VISA gift card for $10. Enter that into the payment area and see if it will attempt to process it and decline it based on lack of funds... or if it gives you the good pop-up!
5. Some people don't need to do the Pearson Vue trick because Pearson Quick Results are available in their state (if you're from the US) for $7.95. It should be noted, however, that you need to wait 2 full business days to use it, so what's the point? States that participate in this service currently include:
